One Q is an Intelligent Print Management solutions company providing clients with a streamlined print service system which is scalable, compliant and hassle-free.
Working with a diverse client portfolio ranging from SMBs to large enterprises including Disney, Qatar Airways, University of Cambridge, Siemens and Santander; One Q’s clients span the globe.
One Q, headquartered in Denmark, searched for ways to enhance their Intelligent Print Management (IPM) system to support Brother machines.
As One Q works with a diverse range of clients, the solution needed to support different platforms including Windows, IBM Power and IBM System Z (mainframe), to complement the needs of the largest enterprise customers.
To meet their unique requirements, One Q used the Brother Solutions Interface (BSI) to make their printing, scanning and copying operations compatible with Brother devices.
BSI allows custom solutions to be built for, or integrated with, Brother machines including scanners, printers and Multi-Function Centres (MFCs).
Using the BSI custom user interface commands, One Q were able to create a customised user journey easily supporting different device screen sizes and using the lock function, only allowing access to a device after authentication by PIN code, username and password or ID card.
During the process, One Q had some unique requests which Brother solved. One Q wanted to use Omnikey USB card readers plus detailed status tracking of a print job. Brother provided a firmware update to enable this functionality.
The support for Brother devices using BSI was implemented efficiently to work in line with One Q’s specific requirements.
The successful completion of the project means that One Q’s partners can engage in tenders within the very price-sensitive market.
This is due to a combination of factors including: being compatible with Brother devices, the support of One Q’s server, the scalability factor, the possibility to use a mixed multi-vendor printer environment and the technical support they can provide for small to large enterprises which is extremely unique in this market.
