National Apprenticeship Week 2020

Wednesday 5th February 2020 brought together a number of the Greater Manchester (GM) Apprenticeship Ambassadors and their employers to celebrate at Lloyds Bank’s flagship branch on Market Street, Manchester.

Project Manager, Matt Leigh opened the event with an update on the GM Apprenticeship Ambassador Programme’s achievements, which include:

  • Over 400 GM Apprenticeship Ambassadors trained
  • Ambassador visits to c.150 GM schools
  • Engaged with over 21,000 young people, teachers, parents, employers, Job Centre Plus (JCP) staff and JCP clients

Next to speak was Gemmer Crozier, one of the longest serving Ambassadors. Gemmer gave a passionate insight into her Apprenticeship journey and how the programme helped her career develop.

Nic Hutchins, Principal Skills Manager (Apprenticeships & Technical Education) of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority followed, emphasised how the crucial work of the Ambassadors has contributed to the GM Apprenticeship Strategy. 

Attendees then welcomed GM Mayor, Andy Burnham who highlighted the value of Apprenticeships in Greater Manchester and the promoted the highly anticipated Greater Manchester Apprenticeship and Careers Service (GMACS) online careers platform. 

Andy also thanked the Ambassadors and Employers and presented them with certificates recognising their valuable contribution to the programme.
