Phil Jones named Fellow of Institute of Directors

Our managing director Phil Jones has been awarded fellowship status of the Institute of Directors (IoD) – the highest level of membership in the business leaders’ organisation.

The accolade – bestowed on only one in eight members – recognises Phil’s contribution to business. He became managing director of Brother UK in 2013, having originally joined as a fax machine salesman in 1995. Since then he has helped us to be recognised as one of the Sunday Times’ 100 Best Companies to Work For and achieve the Investors in People Gold standard.

Phil said: “I’ve been a member of the IoD for many years and I’ve benefitted from its membership throughout my career. It plays a vital role in enabling business leaders to collaborate and share insight and experience, both nationally and across the North West, so it is a real privilege to receive this recognition.”

Mike Perls, chair of IoD North West, added: “Having been a long-standing champion of business, both regionally and nationally, Phil’s fellowship is richly deserved. Under his leadership, Brother has become a pillar of the North West business community, renowned for its commitment to employees.

“The IoD inspires leaders, and Phil has already contributed significantly to this in his role on our advisory board. As a fellow, I am confident that Phil will continue to be an extremely influential voice for the region, and will help the North West nurture the next generation of entrepreneurs.”

The IoD is the UK’s oldest organisation for professional leaders, dedicated to encouraging entrepreneurial activity and promoting responsible business practice for the benefit of the business community and society as a whole.
