Rated 4 out of 5 by from great home laser printer This has been the easiest printer I have ever set up, and I have set up quite a few! Simple home network using power socket adaptors. Also direct connection to pc. Windows XP, Windows 7 & 8. Each connection method & OS just installed and WORKED straight away as it SHOULD (& often doesn't). It was fantastic! The printer itself is pretty good. Relatively compact and quiet it prints at a good enough quality for letters and homework. Reasonably fast but beware that the output tray isn't huge so needs attention if the print-run is large. Only owned for a few weeks at this point so running costs and longevity not known yet, but I would highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A first class piece of equipment There is not a lot to say. The gizmo works as it should. Was very easy to set up. Is compact and contains within its standard compact size the feed in paper tray, and space for the printed page on the top of the printer. So it has no awkward bits sticking out of it, or above it. You can feed labels into the printer into an extra slot in the front face of the printer. A bizarre extra sentence was added by Brother - saying something like - "Yes - I recommend this printer". Well, I object to such trickery and deceit - and I DO NOT RECOMMEND the creator of the website, who has put words into my mouth without my permission.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very robust low cost solution but not for apple Bought this printer as part of my home network. Setting it up was very easy for my windows machines. Nothing to do really. After the first page, printing is swift. A bit of a let down is that the printer driver on our new apple air book does not support printing PDFs (see various online discussions) and that the ipad/iphone apps keep forgetting the printer and reporting dubious errors even though the print job went through. Ok for me but my wife gets annoyed and wants to have a printer "which works" with her mac. So overall very good value for money as long as you don't want to use it with your apple hardware,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great compact mono printer At first I was a little concerned regarding the quality and price plus some negative comments regarding noise. Well I am so glad I purchased this printer compared to my old laser printer it is so quiet. There is no noise at all once it has finished printing and whilst printing it is fast and no where near as noisy as the old one. My office no longer has a constant rumbling sound in the background. The Brother HL-2250DN was very easy to install and printing in around 5 mins from opening the box. It is very compact and has given me back much needed space on my desk! I would recommend this printer to anyone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent network laser printer at a good price I bought this printer for home network use. It's network connectivity is by Ethernet cable, so it might not suit somebody with only a wireless network. There are ways round this, however - in my case, for instance, I already used HomePlug in addition to wireless, so it was easy to connect this way. So far I am pleased with the printer. Print speed is quite enough for home use, print quality is good, and it was very easy to install (Win7 and XP). It replaced another Brother laser printer which has served me well for over 10 years #and was still going when I replaced it!), so my experience of Brother printers has been good - if this new one lasts as long I shall be more than happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This printer does exactly what it is intended to do. I am quite pleased with this the HL-2250DN. The network setup was a breeze. The initial toner cartridge, which has less capacity than the normal cartridges, has lasted longer than expected. The availability of high capacity cartridges is quite welcome also. Print quality is excellent. Single-sided print speeds are fantastic. Automatic duplex printing is quite welcome. With duplex printing, draft quality, and high capacity cartridges, the consumables costs of this printer are quite low. If this printer has the long-term quality of my HL-2030, it will be an excellent home/small business printer. Given the price, only £20 more than a drum for my HL-2030, there is no faulting this printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent budget printer I bought this because I needed a decent laser printer for home use, and particularly needed ethernet connectivity, and duplex printing The HL2250 DN fits this need very well, and was purchased at a really good sale price from Currys, making it exceptional value at the time of purchase. Set up was really simple using Windows 7 64 bit. Just ran the software off the CD, it found the printer on the network, and was up and running in no time. I use it as a general printer, and for producing the artwork for printed circuit boards, and it works very well for this. Overall a very good printer for my needs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from noisy but good value The printer is good value for money. As far as I can tell the cheapest duplex networked laser printer. It works on my Mac's over the network and windows 7 connected via USB (I could network it but the VPN software I use does not allow local connections) The fan is just about liveable with when it is in standby mode but when printing it is very annoying. It would be great if it was in another room. It was easy to set-up on Mac OS 10.7 and 10.6. Windows 7 was also as you would expect. apart from the noise its a great little printed. Yes I'd buy another one. I just turn if off between prints.
