Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saves me so much time. Spent half a day hetting use to features, but time well spent as it prints as I like it, on any media I choose. Ideal for day to day prining. Ink cartridges supplied with machine are small "starter" cartridges, but after 2 weeks of printing - including lots if test images - they are still going strong. But what really sets this out above any other tech products I've bought recently, is the easily accessible customer services available at the end of the phone, helping me to resolve set-up issues. I would certainly recommend Brother for this reason alone, but this particular model is also a perfect combination of speed and quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great printer with A3 capabilities I bought the printer from Curry's so I could compare A3 compatible printers with double-sided capabilities. The Brother DCPJ4120DW stood out as compact and was reasonably priced. It connected easily with modern macs and tablets in the household, but the older Mac (OS 10.6.8) which is used for Photoshop designs, proved harder and I had to scour the internet and download the drivers for (10.7) before it worked. Scanning is achieved through Photoshop's Twain driver, as the new 'all in one' software is not compatible. I have not had to change inks yet, but every one seems happy with the image and text results so far. All in all a welcome addition to the household!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing - It kept saying the ink tanks (new) were empty - had to reinstall them, after which it would happily print, only to complain next time. Fault seems to have gone away now. - Printing from PC generates error message saying printer not found, but it happily prints if I wait a minute, so error message is spurious. - Takes an age between starting print process - "receiving data" - and actually printing. - When scanning, does not auto-detect photo/whatever size, necessary to pre-set from very few options, so any photo not 10x15 has to be scanned at A4 then the white space around it cropped using a graphics programme. - Otherwise, fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Photo Printer I've got this printer 4 weeks ago. Printed 250 full page photographs and went through two sets of inks (excluding black) It basically prints photos using CMY and documents using CMYK so if you print photos only you don't need to buy black replacement ink. Prints on 280gsm pro photo paper with no problem. And prints fast, because it can take A3 so it actually prints A4 in landscape mode so it takes less passes that any other printer. It's very compact and you can stack them one on the top of another. Print quality is very good.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Depends what you need We got this printer purely for the A3 printing which is does well. We do have issues with the paper though - whenever we need to print on photo paper, even when the option is selected, we need to remove the paper and clear paper jam around 5 times before it allows us to finally print. We keep getting a message on the screen now telling us the ink cartridges are not installed correctly and we have to reinstall every time the printer gets switched on. It is quiet and prints well, it's just frustrating when printing on photo paper so if it's just normal paper you print on, it's great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best value DCPJ4120DW Excellent printer for documents and flyers. Having had separate scanner and printer in the past and an additional A3 printer for those occasional larger jobs this printer is great value. The supplied OCR software for converting scanned documents and PDF files is excellent and is better than other expensive OCR software available. Do shop around to get a good deal. Maplins had the best price and was most convenient when I purchased mine but that's no guarantee for now. Be sure to show those around how to lift and close the lid and screen without forcing them and causing damage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smart printer at a great price! Having always bought HP printers and after a bit of research this came up as best buy for the cheaper inkjet printers. I am not disappointed print quality scans and copying are excellent quality. Setting up was straight forward though I must say the quick start guide could be clearer. Paper loading is from the front in a cassette which pulls out to load paper and pushes back in ready for printing ... In my view, better than the rear loading I am used to on other printers. Ink cartridge installation is straight forward, by lifting the front flap and as cartridges are inserted. I can even print from my iPhone from any room in the house. All in all, I am very pleased with this all in one printer and I must say, glad I moved away from HP after all these years. Highly recommended.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing! The first one I sent back because of the photo printing quality which I had specifically bought it for. At first glance they look OK but get the light on them and you can see lines impressed on the print from the rollers. The machine was replaced and guess what? Just the same. I kept the machine because I needed to do a load of printing but it drives me mad with its clunking and clonking and all the faff involved in loading paper into the flimsy tray. Do yourself a favour and try another make.
