MPS Essential FAQs

MPS Essential works by Making Printing Simple. Saving time, streamlining printer admin, and keeping costs down, so you can stay productive.

The process of getting signed up is simple too:

  1. You purchase a new printer from a trusted Brother partner, and choose MPS Essential as an optional add-on. You can also talk to a reseller about adding MPS to an existing Brother printer.
  2. We link up your printer to the Brother MPS Portal.
  3. You use the portal to add contact / delivery details and choose your MPS plan.
  4. The portal monitors ink and toner usage, then automatically sends out new supplies when you’re running low.
  5. Charges are invoiced every quarter in arrears – based on either a fixed monthly payment plan, or pay per printed page.
Make sure your printer is connected to a network that has internet access. We’ll send you an activation email with simple instructions to connect your device to the MPS Essential system.
Brother will send replacement ink and toner cartridges as you need them. Your printer must be connected to your network/Wi-Fi router with internet access and connected to the Brother MPS Cloud. Your printer will automatically order supplies when you are running low.
A printer page counts the same whether it’s black and white or colour. Pages are counted per printed side, thus a two-sided document would count as two printed pages. A3 print outs count as 2 pages.
Pages will be rolled over within the billing quarter. If your business uses less than the total page allowance within your billing quarter you will not be charged for any additional pages.

Choose a predictable quarterly payment plan with a choice of Low, Medium or High packages or only pay for the pages your business prints with pay per printed page.

When signing up to an MPS Essential managed print service subscription with Brother, you can benefit from remote installation and set up, automatic toner and ink replenishment with free postage, and access to your customer portal to track your usage. If you do have any issues with your printer during your subscription, we will respond in four business hours over the phone, or send an engineer the next business day if it is not resolved. Whether you join with a new or used device, your subscription starts from sign up so you can begin enjoying all of these benefits.

Extra pages will automatically be charged as your business uses them. You will be charged two different prices, one for pages that use only black ink or toner, and a different price per page for pages that require colour and black ink or toner.

If you’re finding you’re going over your allowance a lot, it’s simple to change packages to reflect your higher printing volumes. 

If you are on pay per printed page, you will be billed by the page.

The Renew by Brother programme can help your business meet its sustainability goals.

This programme collects and reuses used genuine cartridges as part of a fully circular process, remanufacturing them to as-new condition. Those which cannot be remanufactured are recycled, with zero waste going to landfill.

No. The core services of Brother’s managed print offering, which are device monitoring, break-fix service, consumption based billing and consumable replenishment, will not process any of the data printed.
You can cancel your MPS Essential managed print service subscription at any time. Contact Brother via the MPS Essential portal. At the point of cancellation, you will need to provide a minimum of 3 months’ notice.
