I've only used the printer for a short while, but - so far - I'm very pleased with it. The small footprint clears desk-space and I like the fact that it prints duplex.
I find the lack of a power switch a minor irritation (I don't print a lot and so I'm used to leaving my printer switched off until I need it), it means it powers up everytime I turn my computer on, but it soon dozes off...
My only other negative comment is the inclusion of a low capacity toner cartridge with it instead of a full one!

first class printer
Brother are very reliable manufacturers of printers. My previous one lasted twenty years.
My only negative comment is that the paper drawer feels a bit flimsy. Otherwise all good.

Great little printer
This printer is does the job really well. It's a little more noisy than my previous laser printer but it's much quicker to chuck out the first sheet. The quality is good and the ink seems to last quite a while. Very pleased.

Compact it may be, but it packs quite a powerfull punch!
I have had this printer just over a couple of weeks now & I am very impressed with its performance. Having always bought Brother printers over the last 15yrs, we have never had a printer fail & I think that is most reassuring to know.
We assume this machine is aimed at the Home Office user, but I think it should not be ruled out for general simple everyday printing. It prints pretty fast & has an automatic duplex where it prints on both sides of the paper.
There are no complicated displays to read or buttons to fiddle with, trying to change settings. The printer has 4 led lights that tell you the status of toner low, drum needs to be changed out of paper & ready to print.
It's very easy to set up & if your like me fed up of wireless printers that you spend half the time looking for on your network, only to find they have vanished - Good News! It is USB connectivity only. No wireless! The black toner supplied is a starter toner & will print about 700 pages. The toner is a separate that means it can be changed without having to change the drum. The drum itself can replaced separately when it comes to the end of its life. Costs of the consumables are very reasonable indeed & on-par with compatibles price wise. For the sake of a couple of pounds, you are better off buying the original consumables.
The software with the printer is simple enough to install from the CD provided, it allows you to change the printer settings via the desktop menu. It also has a manual feed slot at the front, perfect for envelopes or labels.
