Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good basic printer My selection criteria for the printer were: must be capable of wireless networking, must have auto duplex, must have reasonable running costs. The printer is used for internal business documents with low graphics content. Wireless set up was not exactly as stated in the manual as I use MAC address filtering, but if you are sophisticated enough to use MAC address filtering you are probably sophisticated enough to know what needs to be done to add a new device. Print quality is satisfactory and the print speed is better than I hoped. Noise levels are higher than I expected but are quite acceptable for my short and infrequent print runs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from High-end features for an excellent price! For the relatively small additional price compared with the HL-2240, the HL-2270DW adds a built-in duplexer for printing on both sides of the page and both Ethernet and WiFi connections for easy sharing in a small office. The HL-2270WD looks extremely good value for a busy home office because of the combination of fast speed, reasonably high-quality output, suitable paper capacity, duplexing, and both wired and WiFi network support. Add in the small size, and it's a particularly good fit as a shared printer. The printer was quick and easy to set up. It came preloaded with ‘starter’ toner cartidge which will yield 1,000 pages. I will definitely be recommending this product to friends and family.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value for a basic wireless laser I found our inket colour printer far too expensive to run so opted for this basic laser. My spec was laser, double sided printing & wireless and not necessarily print quality, colour, speed or manufacturer (it's the 1st Brother I have ever bought) This inexpensive laser fitted this criteria. Set up was easy including wireless setup despite an extremely old router. Since installation 4 weeks ago it has worked perfectly and the print quality for documents is fine. As long as neither speed nor colour are required this is ideal. It also has a fairly small footprint. If I had to point a minus it would be that the paper cassette is slighty flimsy and completely contained so you can't see how much paper is left.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fast, quiet but too uptight! It's a compact and stylish looking printer, but it can get confused with quite simple info from the computer for printing. It struggles to work off two computers- which our old printer did easily - (and this was v basic and lasted years). It has been frustrating at times because this new printer is too committed to my computer's memories. At times it is not 'easy to use'- if there's a blockage or trying to find the double-sided facility! But the speed of printing is great. It's compact and relatively quiet. I also like knowing that its relatively eco-friendly- which is important.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it says on the tin ... Bought this as a replacement for an ageing 2240D, and also because I wanted a printer that was easily accessible wirelessly by a home network. I was particularly impressed by the speed and ease with which I was able to connect to the wireless network and have the printer recognised by all three home PC's and laptops. Installation of drivers etc. was trouble free in both Vista and Win7. This is now my 4th Brother printer in some 18 years, and I really don't think I would consider buying any other brand in the foreseeable future. The printer is primarily used for HQ printing of music scores and parts for a small-scale Music Preparation business, (hence the need for efficient duplex), and it is more than fit for purpose.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good cheap double size laser printer I enjoy working with this printer quire a lot. It took sometime through to download all the compatability driver software to mac lion (mountain loin) but after you install them no further problem. The only improvement I would be able to see in this printer would be to make double side printing a defualt printing state. I do not know yet how long last the cartilage but I done already quite a few jobs and the orignal ink cartilage still working.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well featured, east to operate, clear instructions Very pleased with this purchase. USB, ethernet, WiFi connectivity make this a bargain. As well the duplex printing function I find really useful and something I had been looking for on a laser printer for some time. The manuals were easy to find and download and were well written (not always the case, I'm afraid). So a great buy as far as I'm concerned and although a little expensive I am pleased with what I got for the money. Negatives? Only one really in that the construction seems a little plasticky but is quite robust enough for my SOHO use I think.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb Printer This was the easiest printer that I have ever set-up. It really was as close to 'plug and play' as you could get. I use both network and wi-fi and it has never glitched yet. Having used the printer for a couple of months the print quality has been consistently excellent. I particularly like having a tray within the main printer body rather than having it sticking outside. The form factor might be a little large for some but remember it does do duplex. The dull matt finish and rounded corners mean that it looks unobtrusive. I would unreservedly recommend.
