Rated 5 out of 5 by from quick duplex printer with great reults I have this printer connected to my home LAN by connecting the USB to my NAS. I have 3 PCs that utilize this printer . All produce excellent results and I am very impressed by the speed of output of the first page as well as the overall speed. The duplex function is really good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good laser printer for home use. Very easy set up and use on a desktop pc and for sharing printing with a laptop. A little noisy in operation but quick good quality printing more than makes up for this. Toner cartridge is easy to remove and change. Would recommend for home or small office use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Expectations Having been previously well satisfied with an early edition of the Brother printer HL series I was expecting even more from the HL 2240D and I wasn't disappointed, It does everything I require in a mono laser printer and at a bargain price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A worthwhile purchase I have had this a couple of weeks and am very pleased with my purchase. It was simple, in the extreme, to set up, small and convenient on the desk. I use it for both personal and business printing, especially the auto-duplex mode.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not bad but could be better Comes with the usual tiny toner cartridge so you have to buy a new toner cartridge very quickly. Speed is good for short documents, but after a few pages it keeps having a break to cool down, very irritating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product I purchased this Printer because I needed one that would enable me to self publish a booklet of short stories and poems. This I was able to do with this Printer; excellent value for money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value for money! As a small engineering office, we would not usually consider laser printers. This excellent value printer was within our price range and we are delighted with every aspect. Great printer!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what it says on the tin Power supply killed my old motherboard. New motherboard had no parallel printer port on it so I was forced to buy a USB printer. After reading several reviews and comparing current prices I decided the HL-2240D was a good fit for my needs. Setting up was quick and painless and the first task undertaken was to print out the 144 page manual. First impression - it's incredibly noisy, whether I've just been unlucky and this is just my machine, or all of this model/series are just as noisy is something I'm not liable to find out as things stand - but high noise levels from gears etc. may mean moving parts wearing out fairly quickly, so that's a worry. Printing was very fast and, I had bought the "D" version which gives auto duplexing (i.e. printing on both sides of each page). I knew the term but had never seen it in action - it was fascinating seeing a page printed out, then sucked back in to the printer, and then quickly ejected with both sides printed. The quality of printing was very good. The drum only does some 12,000 pages - so I was shocked to see how expensive replacements were, ditto for toner

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fts the bill It does what it says on the box. Suits my requirements but occasionally crashes and needs to be restarted to complete the task. Not exceptional but does what I need.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A bit noisy Whilst the printer works well and is good value for money, it is a bit noisy when active and not printing. However it does go quiet when dormant.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, so good. I started a Family History project recently and was finding that I was facing a potentially large printing task. Until now, I was using a Brother MFC - 215C Inkjet printer which from the outset had been confusingly sending me alerts about the "near empty" cartridges. The quality was not very good and a couple of months ago the alignment was out. No matter how many times I referred to the manual I could not solve the problems. I was looking into replacing the said 215C and I never really thought about buying a Laser printer because of the high cost until my son mentioned that they had all come down dramatically in price. I looked at the specs. of a few and, although my experience with my existing Brother 215C threatened to cloud the issue ,I decided to buy the HL-2240D. I have been using it, albeit in a domestic situation, for a month now and printed about 300 sheets of paper, but I have to say I am IMPRESSED. The difference in quality is awesome compared to my Inkjet. I'm not all that bothered about speed although it is good to have copies whizzing out almost as soon as I hit the button. I also like the Duplex printing facility and the large paper storage drawer. Only one niggle so far! I had run out of paper and when the machine stopped printing it took me some time to figure out just what was wrong. It would be extremely helpful if a dedicated warning flashing light with "PAPER EMPTY" could be designed into the next model?(There is one for Toner and Drum). I don't usually writes reviews for equipment but in this case I feel justified in doing so!
