Rated 1 out of 5 by from Prints Erroneous Solid Black Line Down Page The printer works fine sometimes, but then will randomly print a streak of black down the page for no apparent reason, wasting toner and paper as it takes printing several more pages to run this streak through. In terms of a wireless printer, this was a cheap purchase, but you really get what you pay for and this is awful. We purchased for our small business printing postage labels, but the black streaks rendered many of the labels useless as they contained barcodes. Useless printer for us.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheap as fried potato wedges Well, first off most printers are sold cheaply because the cartridges are expensive. A replacement toner for this printer is about £12.00 for a compatible. For 1000 pages (1500 on toner save) that's really cheap. The drum replacement is £29 and is needed after 10,000 ish prints. It is also non-jam. The print quality is ok to very nice. Even in toner save mode. I wouldn't use it for photos though besides, it's monochrome. Setting up involved 2 buttons. Home office excellence then!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A relatively good printer, when it works I had a number of this printer. The first one died 2 weeks after buying it and was replaced by a faulty printer and I finally got a running one. for the price print quality and speed is good. The wifi function does not seem to work very well and i end up using a cable. After three year of very light usage (only one new toner) the printer died: impossible to start it up. No more brother printer for me and I have bought a better quality machine from another manufacturer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does the job For under £50 Irritations : Turns itself off after a short period of time. (few hours?) You have to physically push the button to turn it back on. Very annoying in an office. Installs 'brother utilities' on your PC. Consists of 'status monitor' which tells you its 'offline' (coz it's turned itself off) and thats it. Oh you can register your printer. Pointless software not worthy of the title 'Utilities'. Ok for £49 it does the job. We had a similar spec Samsung did it better for similar price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hassle-free setup, fast printing, excellent value After loosing a fight with yet another useless inkjet I've went back to laser printers. This one does a job superbly well - it heats up fast, has a decent PPM rate and it was super easy to setup with the WiFi router. My Mac has installed it on the fly, iPhone too - super convenient if you don't want the hassle with cables. It's also quite small for a laser printer so it easily fits into my home office. Really pleased with the purchase. Also - replacement cartridges are super cheap!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Splendid machine I needed a laser printer for letters to friends and for printing tickets for transport or events etcetera. Brother HL1212W is exactly what I needed. Easy to use even for someone who has poor tech savvy and arthritic hands. Not to heavy to carry and compact in design. Black is totally black but prints half tones well in illustrative work. The speed when it warms up in a few seconds is impressive. Value for price could not be better and I would recommend it to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No-nonsense wireless printer I bought a similar laser printer for the 1st time 2 yrs ago for parents, after struggling before with inkjet printers that are useless garbage, + was happy with it's speed + reliability. Now I bought this wireless one for myself which I keep in kitchen cupboard + plug in whenever I need it. Easy setup, just follow simple instructions provided - obviously you need a router/wireless network to use it wireless. Toner refills for this are not too expensive either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little printer even better for the price I was looking for a change from the ink jet as mine had the classic issue of run out of yellow cannot print any other color (seriously printer companies? how hard is it to make black) so thought, i'll bite the bullet and get a laser just for black printing and this one has been great so far, I've used it for paper, card and acetate in the last few weeks and each time it's a solid clean crisp print. Having it wireless is just a huge benefit on the side!
