Rated 1 out of 5 by from Eats ink and breaks Bought this printer and initially thought it was great. Then realised it was requiring the toner to be changed more often than expected. We usually get about 50% over page count because of the nature of the docs we print(on older brother printers). With this we barely achieved the stated page count. Then it broke after 6 months. This has left me very dissatisfied with this printer. We had switched all of our printing to brother machines and up to this point had had only minor problems, but this printer is definitley not value for money in my opinion

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nick, Northants Really pleased with this as a replacement for my inkjet. I thought the footprint would be excessive but it blends in just fine in my home office. Print quality is great although I haven't tried to print photos. Really pleased with the duplex facility which was one of the main reasons I chose this Brother Scanning is also easy although it is slightly different from what I was used to. That said, every scanner I have ever owned does things slightly different. Can't comment on the document feeder as I haven't used it. Set up is a doddle - I had to download the windows 10 pack which isn't on the disc, but otherwise no problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A step up from previous printer This printer was bought as a replacement printer and it far excels in features to previous one. Very quick and easy to setup on USB, Wifi and Cloud printing on an Android device. Very quiet in operation, quick to wake up and print. Large paper capacity in Std bin, Print quality is very good in B/W and general colour printing but struggles a bit in photo print . Cartridges seem reasonably priced compared to other manufacturers and easy to change. Software supplied is very comprehensive. Colour touchscreen controls very clear and easy to navigate and customising options very easy, Comprehensive manual covers all the necessary information with the Cloud/Air print setup available via Brothers website

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to set up Dead easy to set up, following the clear instructions. Slightly bigger footprint than my inkjet .Colour reproduction poor but adequate - no use for photos but OK for copying websites. Automatic double-sided is a great feature. After only a week and about 200-300 sheets (using toner-saver settings) the black cartridge is already showing only half full. If accurate this is disappointing unless this is not a full size cartridge (details confirm this for colour, but expecting full size black)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy setup, good quality printing This is quite a heavy unit but that is also a positive thing because it feels well made. A good range of features, I particularly like the document feeder for scanning etc, and the fact that you can then send documents straight to a folder on your computer or to the cloud. I have only used it for a couple of weeks, and not yet for photos, but solid colour graphics and text print very well. Also, in sleep mode it uses less than two watts, so is reasonable to leave on all the time and 'wake itself up' when you send a print job. I use this printer over Wi-Fi, from a Windows 10 laptop and an android phone. Works reliably from both.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It is large! I bought this as first colour laser printer, having got frustrated with my inkjet gobbling up ink and constantly having technical problems. I am pleased with the quality of the printing, including colour photos printed on normal paper, which came out better than the inkjet, despite lower resolution, in theory. I couldn't get it to be recognised by my apple products directly, depsite it advertising apple 'airprint' but have succeeded by using the IP address, but this took a while. It connected to PCs very easily. Main comment is I under-estimated how big it was- I have had mono laser printers before and have looked at several colour printers in shops but was taken aback at how BIG this one is- like an office photo-copier, not a home device- so make sure you look at the measurements and check your space before you order. so far very pleased.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dissapointing At 18 months old we had to replace the fuser unit (approx. 8,000 pages). Then12 months later it needs replacing again. Page count of 14,470 pages since new. We bought two of these at the same time. Identical firmware etc. One printer is fine, other prints fine but scanner has many problems with scan to PC, usually not recognising the PC. We have not managed to configure scan to network to work on either of these printers. We have used the identical parameters to configure different model Brother MFPs to successfully scan to network. No help with any of these issues from Brother as "Out of warranty".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a gem This printer does everything it says on the box and is so easy to use. Copying, scanning, document handling, two sided colour printing all at the touch of a button. Within minutes it had connected to phones, iPads and laptop. I can now print anything from any device. Two sided printing is easy and intuitive, just press the button for 2 sided and it sorts itself out. This is the first complex printer I have used that really does look after itself. I wish I had found this years ago, life would have been so much simpler.
