Rated 5 out of 5 by from Certainly good value Never found a so called permanent marker pen which is permanent, always finding faded writing on labels, but found trader at the Hampton Court show this July, selling this product. Discussed pros and cons, none really, so purchased one, (wished I had purchased a spare cartridge in hindsight) together with a pen (will await to see if this is actually permanent, for seedlings in pots/trays etc) Used up free label cartridge quickly, only 4 metres, mainly due to getting used to various printing modes, etc. Later purchased an 8 meter roll, and now purchasing two more, so will always now have a spare. Extremely satisfied with this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Technophobes I wondered if my husband could cope with this but I was so fed up of plant labels being written on so many times it was impossible to even find a name let alone read it and we had so many surpises last year when plants weren't what we thought they were, that I decided to take the plunge and buy my husband one for Christmas. Things are looking good. I have only had to show him once how to use it. We are getting lovely clearly printed labels with name, variety and date sown on our seed labels (and of course legible!). I hope it's making the seeds feel proud and grow well. I am also finding many other uses around the house too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very good investment Excellent printer, though you need to read the instructions carefully to get the most out of it. Print quality brilliant. I like being able to swap from one tape to another whenever I want. And you can check and correct your spelling before printing. I use it mainly for garden plant labels - a friend has had one for a number of years and his labels show no signs of fading or peeling. But it's surprising how many other uses I have found for it. Although it looked a bit expensive initially, having got it I wouldn't be without it. And it's well made so should last a long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Cost Effective Way to Label This a great machine providing fantastic looking labels both smart, ultra clear and weatherproof. Before purchasing I read the reviews and found many criticisms of the way tape was wasted when ejecting and cutting off. Admittedly if you print one label, eject and cut you will lose an inch of tape each time. But if you want to print several labels in one go, either all different or the same, you can save a lot of tape by chaining. Chaining inhibits the ejection of the tape until you are ready to cut so it really saves lots of tape from being wasted. It really does pay to read the manual and I'm glad I bought one now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I have used label machines for many years, the embossed tape type and I have found this one to be so much easier to use. It is like a mini word processor, so you can get it right on the screen before you print, no more spinning a dial back and forth to find the right letter. OK the tapes are more expensive, but as you are much less likely to make a mistake, there is little or no wasteage. Plus it's fun to use and the labels it creates are very easy to read and of excellent quality, I certainly won't go back to my old labellers. Highly recommended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A very useful multipurpose label printer I bought this mainly to create plant labels for the garden as unlike other makes of label printer the labels are weatherproof. However I have found a multitude of other labelling uses in the kitchen, office and workshop. It is particularly nice to be able to create 2-line labels and the labels are neat and clear. I have had some difficulty when printing a series of labels of the same dimensions as the font size varies with the number of characters on the label and the preview does not show this. It would also be nice to be able to print fractions eg 1/2 or 1/4 as single characters. The machine is wasteful of tape even when margins are set at a minimum and tape cassettes are extremely expensive. Overall though a useful piece of equipment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product but wastage of tape Excellent label printer. However, no matter what I do I appear to always have a large margin either side of label thus wasting valuable tape. Am rather worried about the high cost of replacement tape too! I only use it for plant marking on a domestic basis so not terribly high usage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Ideal Garden Label printer Compact and easy to use, the GL-200 is a handy little gadget. I've long searched for something to make labels in the garden permanent using pencils and 'permanent' marker pens which both fade over time. I think the GL-200 may be the the answer!
