Brother? .... It's The Daddy!!! :)
I bought the MFC-990W as an upgrade for my DCP-310CN which has served me well for over 5 years and is still in full working order.
The upgrade gave me everything I love about my older model: Print Scan and copy with easy to use software (child's play) and comparatively low cost quality genuine ink cartridges which are now easily accessible from the front of the machine.
In addition the MFC-990W gives me:
Wireless connection - good range and easy to set up using the colour touch screen, which has a much appreciated adjustable viewing angle.
Fax - again so easy to use and lots more options like send and receive direct from machine or using PC than using my separate Brother FAX-T106 also still in good working order and negating the need to stock extra consumables and the need for an additional electric socket.
Cordless Handset - 1 supplied, but up to 3 additional handsets can be added but availability and cost are currently an issue again easy to use but would be better with a colour screen, On the plus side no additional electric socket needed to charge the handset.
Brother Smartphone apps -- Free apps IOS and Android are yet again easy to use allowing you to print direct from your phone or copy/scan to it.
In conclusion despite the handset issue I have rated it 5 stars, this really is an 'All in One' that I would have no problem recommending.

I can't fathom out how to make it work the way I want. It has two different rings and most people hang up so I have to phone them back! Everything else is great. Probably should phone the help desk!

It was a good value for money and set up was easy.

I am very impressed by this machine
Having had previous models this one is in no doubt far superior and does all that can be asked of a multi function machine.

answerphone not great, but there is no competition
The built-in answerphone (TAD) is not great; it doesn't cut in quickly enough, callers get confused by having to wait so long before the message plays, and the whole thing gives an unprofessional voicemail experience. But if you want a printer/fax/copier combi unit that includes an answering machine, then this is the machine that you're going to have to buy, as it appears to be the ONLY one on the market.... fortunately it's good value and all the other features work OK.

My Brother MFC-990CW Hard work makes you thirsty
The product is and does everything i wanted but it uses a lot of ink and as always one colour goes faster than the others so you end up buying ones and twos of some colours and then ones and twos of the others. I guess its just a problem that no manufacturer is able to or actually wants to overcome - or is that me just being cynical? Overall still excellant though!

Very Difficult to Set Up
Always had Brother Printers and found them very easy to use and excellent value for money until the MFC-990CW came along.
Doesn't do anything particularly well and is very complicated to get the unit to work properly - especially the phone where the unit has to be switched on to able to use the phone!
Regret buying this machine as I could have purchased a 4 in one unit plus a seperate phone for half the money.
