BTP-Header2
British Transport Police deliver a safe environment for up to 5 million passengers travelling each day on railways throughout England, Scotland and Wales, covering 3,000 railway stations/depots and 10,000 miles of track. There are about 3,000 officers, including community support officers and special constables, and the force also polices London Underground; Docklands light railway; Glasgow subway; tram services in Croydon and the Midlands; and Eurostar.

Committed to making the production of legislatively necessary paperwork, as efficient as possible, the British Transport Police (BTP) was looking for a fast, efficient yet secure mobile printing solution to work alongside its PDAs for issuing instant “stop and search” records.

Brother worked side-by-side with the BTP to provide a firmware update for the printer in order to meet the force’s Bluetooth security needs. The new firmware allows an eight digit alphanumeric PIN for pairing and an undiscoverable mode.

BTP officers are now free of unnecessary paperwork, reducing the need to access computers back at the office and allowing officers to spend more time on the beat. The light, compact equipment (the MPrint* is only 17mm thick) is easy to carry on the body and BTP officer now wear specially designed jackets with bespoke pockets to house the PDA and MPrint device.
