Terms and Conditions
1. The promoter of this competition is Brother UK Limited of Shepley Street, Audenshaw, Manchester, M34 5JD ("Brother"). By entering this competition, the entrant hereby agrees to be bound by the terms and conditions set out below.
2. Brother is looking for students to participate in the design of Brother's next "FEHE Education Guide", to be published in later 2011 ("Guide"). The Guide will be sent out to contacts all over the UK in colleges /universities and at education events throughout the forthcoming year, including UCISA 2011. Entrants' artwork may feature in the Guide and across other marketing publications.
In entering this competition, the entrant is required to design as creatively as the entrant feels appropriate, a campus layout on A3 portrait size paper. The layout will need to show the different faculties listed below along with anything else the entrant wishes to add. The purpose of the design is to illustrate the different printing, copying and scanning requirements within a college/university.
The entrant must include the following departments:
• reception/office which may show receptionists using fax machines, printers etc;
• lecturers office which may show lecturers using various printers/scanners;
• library/resource centre which may show students scanning and printing documents;
• IT room which may show students printing both black and white as well as colour documents;
• art/graphics room which may show students printing colour A3 design work; and
• Faculty room of your choice showing how printers can be used.
The illustration may appear in the centre pages of the Guide and will fold out into A3 to allow room for the content which needs to be included. In addition to the A3 drawing, the two outer pages to the A3 will need to be designed to fit in with the overall look of the drawing (A4 landscape). It is at the entrants' discretion what to include here.
The entrant is free to add any other faculties or scenarios which it feels represent any printing, copying or scanning needs within a college/university.
3. Each design submitted must include the detail identified in the brief on the website www.brother.co.uk/education [(or alternatively a hard copy can be provided on request).
4. To be eligible to enter this competition you must be a full/part-time student, based in the UK and as at the Closing Time of this competition (as set out at paragraph 6 below) you must be above the age of 18.
5. Entrants can enter this competition as many times as you like. Each entry submitted should be clearly labelled with your name and full contact details for yourself and your college/university attending. To enter, all entries must be sent to:

6. All entries must be received by Brother by 5pm on the 6th May 2011 ("Closing Time"). Any entries received after the Closing Time will not be entered into this competition.
7. This competition is from 17th January 2011 to 6th May 2011 and entry into this competition is free and no purchase is necessary.
8. The entries will be judged by Michelle Molloy, Steph Whalley and Andrea Finan of Brother UK Ltd and their decision is final.
9. The prizes for winning are as follows:
• the student will win £1000 towards their tuition fees; and
• the college/university where the student attends will win one multifunction colour laser, model number MFC-9465CDN
[There will be no cash or other alternative to the prizes offered and prizes are not transferable. However, should the advertised prize become unavailable, Brother reserve the right, at its absolute discretion, to offer an alternative prize of equal or greater value.]
10. The winner will be notified [in writing] by Friday 13th May 2011 ("Notification Date") by way of Brother notifying the college/university(s) where the respective winning student attends. The winner will be contacted in accordance with CAP Code hence all college/univeristy who have entered this competition will also be notified of the wining details in writing by Friday 13th May 2011.
11. Each of the winning prizes will be delivered to the respective college/university by Friday 20th May 2011.
12. The name of the winner can be obtained for up to one month after the Notification Date, along with a copy of each of the winning design, by sending a stamp-addressed envelope to Steph Whalley at the address set out at paragraph 5 above specifying the name of the competition.
13. Brother reserves the right to:
• publish any and/or all designs submitted as part of this competition, in the Guide and/or any other publication which Brother deems appropriate (although for the avoidance of doubt, Brother is not obliged to publish any and/or all winners' entries should it decide that the submissions have merit but do not suit the intended publication); and
• use any and/or all designs submitted as part of this competition for marketing purposes.
14. All entries submitted to Brother as part of this competition become the absolute property of Brother (and for the avoidance of doubt intellectual property rights in and to each entry shall be assigned to Brother upon Brother receiving the respective entry) [and no entries will be returned to the student].
15. In all matters regarding this competition, the decision of Brother will be final and binding.
16. Brother shall hold the data submitted along with each entry (including the entrant's name, title of illustration and contact details for the college/university) for a reasonable period of time to enable it to send the prizes to the appropriate location, to verify that these terms and conditions have been complied with, for accounting purposes and generally for the purposes of administering this competition.
17. This competition (including these terms and conditions) and any matters arising as result thereof is governed by the laws of England and Wales.
