Excellent printer packed full of features. Very easy to set up wirelessly, prints copies and scans in A4 and A3; the A3 copy and scan feature being the deciding point on buying this model.
Overall a fantastic printer and good value for money.

Overall good machine
When it comes to functionality needs 2 separate feed trays. 1 tray to feed A4 and another for A3. At the moment is not much reliable interms of holding two different size papers. Every time you need to print different size paper you need to switch trays from the machine which is not ideal.

We use this printer in our office and it gets used a lot. Colour quality is excellent and it prints pages quickly. Would recommend it.

Good value if you want a A3 scanner & printer
Not made clear that it can't duplex scan.
Software limited. i.e can't save scans in Word or Excel.
OCR capablity poor.
16 April 2013
This is a great printer for the money. Printing duplex landscape is a problem as the page is reversed. Easy scanning and copy facility.
16 April 2013
Good quality printing unlike some other suppliers the ink starter kit last longer .a little noisy whilst printing but good value all round

Too many faults
Nice printer easy to set up and fairly intuitive menus however three major problems. 1 doesnot print PDFs easily some problem reading them means it prints gobbledygook most of the time. 2 poor quality paper pickup means there are frquent paper jams whatever paper I use... furthermore the memory doesn't check what failed to print so in a long print run I've got to check every invoice to see which ones it was that failed to print. 3 if the coloured ink runs out it wont print in black so there is no over-ride.
Disappointed and sending this printer back to my IT consultant.

Brother MFC-J6510DW Jamming Excrement
If a printer jams repeatedly then whatever its functions and whistles are, it's no good.
The first one started jamming and then reported jamming when there was no jam. I bought more expensive paper to try to cure the problem but that made no difference.
I got a replacement machine. Within two weeks this second machine has started jamming in the same way.
I am done with this printer. I am done with Brother as a brand for printers.

Best Small office printer we have had in 5 years. Would Highly recommend it. Fast and efficient. Simple to use and works very well over our basic network linking in with 8 different laptops (macs), PCs and ipads

This product has increased my work productivity
Being able to print drawings at A3 size has greatly increased my productivity and the Brother MFC-J6510DW has enabled me to do this at a relatively low purchase price. I no longer have to wait for large size drawings to arrive in the post.

Best bit of money have spent in a long time.....sick of these things that promise they can do this and that...and then you need to upgarde or buy an add on for.
does exactly what it says on the Box....Use it for Business and home use. Good copier, Clean prints and also answers my Fax calls for me...... Inks are not the dearest either with a decent life span, cheaper than a secretary.
Quiter than most A4 printers I have.

It does what it says on the tin. Excellent for general printing and photos.

No more stress with my printing!
Why have I wasted so much time with (slightly cheaper) poor quality products?
The functions on this printer are superb. Double sided printing. Long life - which means LONG LIFE - printer cartridges. Superb print quality. An A3 photograph printed without problems. Colour printing double sided easy.
Setup of the printer out of the box couldn't be easier. A little heavy in its box, but that's because it's a sturdy well built product.
Cartridges are so easy to install and change!
I've now used 1500 sheets of paper with no problems at all. This is a really economic product.
Software is easy to install, easy to use.
The iPrint feature is not something I purchased the printer for but is now a major benefit! Wireless printing means that I can put the printer anywhere.
A Brother you'd be proud to own..........

I have had this MFC now for 2 weeks and have found that everything I have done with it has been first class.
The Main reason for buying is the fact that it can scan A3 as well as print. I have a number of large photos that i needed to scan and print and the outcome is that you couldn't tell the difference between the original and copy..
I have the MFC connected to my hub with a LAN cable and communication around the house with my lap top is excellent
I would recommend this product to anyone wanting to scan A3 as well as print.
27 January 2013
great printer for the price.
great printer, especially at the price point
blacks could be a bit more vivid, and the paper tray is a bit flimsy, but other than that, i have no issues recommending this product

MFC A3 duplex wireless printer, fax, plus scanner.
This blows away the competition. It is unbelievable.
21 January 2013
MFC-J6510DW fine but...
This printer operated exactly as described. Only disappointment was that printing from an iPad doesn't work if the printer is hard-wired to an ethernet network

Great A3 printer
Im a self employed electician and I needed to print out drawings in A3 as well as fax photo copy and scan so this machine ticked all the boxes and it can also be networked so that any pc laptop or device can print from it without relaying on my main pc being switched on.

Brother ADF function
Very robust printer - doesn't move around the desk or make much noise.
I had heard that automatic document feed on printers of this ilk could be troublesome, but no problems at all - even capable of feeding 40+ pages at a time. Loads of adf use since I got the printer. Why keep paper files when you can store stuff on disk?
Unfortunately, haven't been able to do double-sided scanning - can't find app that allows for this!
Overall, I am happy with the printer and I'm glad I chose it!

Review of recent purchase of MFC J6510DW
The reason I bought this model was
1 All in one
2 copy & print A3
The print quality is not great, in an attempt to install it discovered not yet compatible with Windows 8 however there would be a release in mid January 2013
The fax line was broken so had to be replaced
On a positive as I could install it due to the Windows8 issue the guy I spoke to on the helpdesk, was very helpful.
Not sure I would recommend this but limited products on the market with A3 print and photocopy.
IT WOULD APPEAR THAT BROTHER AUTOMATICALLY INCLUDE I WOULD RECOMMEND AS BELOW WHEN I HAVE SAID ABOVE I AM NOT SURE. IS THIS A REASONABLE THING TO DO?
15 January 2013
Cant be bad A3 printer copier and scanner with wireless capability that was a breeze to set up.
12 January 2013
Best all-in-one A3 printer
The all-in-one A3 printer, many connectivity options. Until now all are fine.
05 January 2013
A great A3 printer for both text and photos.
I like this machine, as it prints duplex on both A4 and A3 at superb quality, the inks are not hugely expensive and it is relatively speedy in printing - not quite laser, but then it is more versatile than most laser printers.
The software is quite handy too - print over wifi, fax over wifi, and scan to desktop remotely. It also has fax to desktop but I haven't had the chance to use that yet.
There are three caveats I have with the thing, though. The first is that if there is a paper jam you lose whatever was being sent to print at the time of the jam. If printing a number of emails, if there is a jam at pages three and six, for example, you will have to go back thrugh your emails to reprint those specific pages, which is a bit annoying. Many printers/copiers have a memory of what was being printed but this does not. Maybe a firmware update to hold the last page in memory until print has been confirmed by the machine? However, although the first one I got jammed regularly, it seems to have been an isolated problem as its replacement has only jammed once in the month I have had it., so fingers crossed.
The second is the OCR software. It forces you to print something such as a PDF before you can OCR it back again. If there is OCR software surely it can OCR an image already on system? It seems to me that it wants you to use more ink to get an OCR out of it. I find that a bit mean.
Thirdly, it does not photocopy/scan both sides of the paper, so is not duplex in that sense. You have to either turn it over, or copy one side, and interleave the copies with the originals to scan a full-sized document.
Otherwise, this is packed with features, the printing is great, especially on photo paper, and it does just what it is supposed to.

Printer produced high quality prints
I bought the printer for A3 printing of my drawings and designs and am very happy with the performance. It has all in one functions of printing, scanning and copying and produce high quality, good color, sharp prints.
The only downside is that it is rather heavy and occupies a lot of space. Also, a USB cable is not included in the pack, which makes it inconvenient when you are not using wireless printing.

They just get better & better
I bought this product to replace an earlier model that I loved and I have not been disappointed. I love this model even better. The print quality is second to none. Excellent value for money.

This Product Is Great
Great machine...BUT it would have been good if Windows 8 software was available with it when it was purchased instead of January
24 December 2012
This product has a poor feature when it comes to printing photos.
I bought it for printing my U3A newsletter and the duplex facility is brilliant but I just wsh the print quality of the photos was better. Other than that it does the job I need it for.
23 December 2012
easy to use printer, simple to set-up, no problems at all
21 December 2012
The printer, copier and scanner functions work very well. Double-sided printouts so far went without a hitch. The scaner interface is found via Mac's System Preferences and I managed to use it susccessfully first off without any instruction from the manual - a pleasant surprise, as was the choice either to scan using the flatbed or the document loader.
The machine initial setup was not difficult but took a bit of time and it seemed to assume I wanted the fax function (and still does) without an option to ignore or disable. Does anyone use fax these days?
The present Brother website looks in its infancy and throws up error pages quite often. Registering the actual machine was frought with difficulty as a result, and the instructions how to find the machine's serial number, and which part of the number to use, vague, if not inaccurate.
But a beautiful machine, classy and responsive. It has so far worked like a dream. Recommended.
