DEVON DOCTORS WANTED A MORE EFFICIENT AND COST EFFECTIVE SOLUTION FOR THEIR PRINTING NEEDS
Devon Doctors are commissioned by NHS Devon, NHS Plymouth and NHS Torbay to provide an out-of-hours service. Around two thirds of Devon's GPs work out of hours shifts for Devon Doctors, which is approximately 700 GPs who operate on a rota system. The service has been placed in the top 10% of out-of-hours providers nationally and they are continually looking to ensure they meet the expectations of patients and improve on their high standards.
The Customer
Devon Doctors, Exeter, Devon.
The Challenge
Devon Doctors had accumulated an array of different faxes, scanners, photocopiers and printers in their offices which were costly and inefficient to run.
The Solution
Originally trialling and purchasing Brother's MFC-8460N multifunction printers, they are now using the MFC-8880DN machines adding faster, double sided printing to its fax, scan and copy capabilities.
The Benefit
By switching to one multifunction machine, Devon Doctor's have been able to reduce maintenance and ongoing running costs and, at the same time, increase efficiency of their office functions.

The Challenge

Mr Shaun Hallett IT Manager and a small team are responsible for maintaining all the hardware and software for Devon Doctors' main site and the 20 or so remote sites around the Devon area. To continue the high standards of service it was important that the office was run as efficiently as possible. The GPs were already using Brother printers because of their ability to print prescriptions straight out of the box and as recommended by their clinical software provider, Adastra. The main office however had different printers, fax and scanning machines and the staff would waste a lot of time going backwards and forwards all over the building. Shaun Hallett highlights just one example, "The referrals team would spend every Friday afternoon manually faxing all the doctor's rotas out to the satellite offices. We knew tasks like this could be achieved more efficiently and we invited Brother in to show us their multifunction machines."

The Solution

Devon Doctors originally trialled the MFC-8460N multifunction machine and these were quickly introduced in two other departments. Seeing the immediate benefits of combining their printing, faxing, copying and colour scanning in one machine, they quickly upgraded to the MFC-8880DN multifunction machine which adds faster, double sided printing as standard. The MFC-8880DN is a network-ready multitasking machine that will save their staff time as well as paper and running costs.
