The Challenge

Batsford Arboretum and Garden Centre is one of the jewels of the Cotswolds. With 2,800 specimens from all over the world, it is one of the largest private collections of trees and shrubs in the country. Stretching over 56 acres, and with just two gardeners and two members of staff on reception, Batsford Arboretum needed a cost effective and easy to use labelling system that would produce durable, professional-lookinglabels. Helen Lowe who works at Batsford explained, "We have a lot of grounds and an enormous amount of bushes and trees, all of which have to be labelled correctly. We include the common names of the trees, the C32latin names, when it was planted and where it originated. It is important that everything is clearly labelled so that the visiting public can access that information as they go round. We do not have the staff to be able to answer their questions so everything has to be on that label so it really is a crucial part of our service. Originally the trees were named with aluminium casts which were not very cost effective or very easy to change. We needed something that would last as long as aluminium but cost less and be easier to change."

The Solution

Batsford Arboretum & Garden Centre had a long working relationship with Brother and have been using Brother's P-touch electronic label printer since. Currently they use the versatile PT-9600, with its easy to use QWERTY keyboard which produces durable labels sized up to 36mm.
